Founded in 1951 by Gérard Mantion in Besançon, France, Maty began as a mail-order watch business operating from a small workshop on rue Jeanneney. The inaugural catalog featured 67 models of men's and women's watches. Over time, Maty expanded its offerings to include jewelry, becoming a prominent name in the French jewelry and watch industry. Today, Maty remains a family-owned company, operating over 50 retail outlets across France and employing around 800 people.
