About Lemania

Founded in 1884 by Alfred Lugrin in L'Orient, Switzerland, Lemania quickly established itself as a premier manufacturer of high-quality watch movements, particularly chronographs and repeaters. Lugrin's expertise earned the company prestigious awards, including gold medals at the Milan Exhibition in 1906 and the Swiss National Exhibition in Bern in 1914.

In 1932, Lemania joined forces with Omega and Tissot to form the Société Suisse pour l'Industrie Horlogère (SSIH), a collaboration that led to the creation of iconic timepieces. Notably, Lemania developed the caliber 321 movement, which powered the Omega Speedmaster—the first watch worn on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission.

Facing challenges during the quartz crisis of the 1970s, Lemania separated from SSIH in 1981, rebranding as Nouvelle Lemania. The company continued to produce esteemed movements until its acquisition by Breguet in 1992. Today, under the Swatch Group, Lemania's legacy endures through its continued influence on high-end watchmaking.
