By the mid-20th century, Dodane became an approved supplier to NATO, delivering approximately 5,000 Type 20 and Type 21 chronographs between 1954 and 1994. These timepieces, equipped with flyback functions and Valjoux movements, were essential tools for military pilots.
Type 21: A pilot's chronograph featuring a flyback function, unidirectional rotating bezel, and tachymeter scale. The reissued version maintains the original's 41.5mm case size and offers modern enhancements like a sapphire crystal and an optional chronometer certificate from the Besançon Astronomical Observatory.
Type 23: Introduced in 2012, this model combines vintage aesthetics with contemporary specifications. Powered by an ETA 2892 movement with a Dubois Dépraz flyback module, it features a 42.5mm case, bi-compax dial, and options for a 60-minute countdown or 12-hour bezel.
In 2022, Dodane faced financial challenges, leading to bankruptcy and liquidation proceedings. Despite these setbacks, Cédric Dodane, the fifth-generation family member, retains ownership of the brand name and is exploring opportunities to preserve the family's watchmaking legacy.
