Historical Overview
Founded in 1891 by brothers Albert and Gustav Stolz in Le Locle, Switzerland, Angelus quickly established itself as a pioneer in horology. The brand gained recognition for its innovative timepieces, including the Chronodato in 1942—the world's first serially produced chronograph wristwatch with a full calendar. Subsequent innovations included the Chrono-Datoluxe in 1948, featuring a digital date display and moon phase, and the Datalarm in 1956, the first wristwatch combining alarm and date functions. In 1958, Angelus introduced the Tinkler, the first automatic repeater wristwatch. Despite ceasing operations during the quartz crisis of the 1970s, Angelus was revived in 2011 by Manufacture La Joux-Perret, reestablishing its commitment to high-end watchmaking.
